The second generation ring of the Oura device is more suitable for your finger.
The first generation of Oura’s smart ring was little more than proof of concept, demonstrating that it was possible to put an exercise tracker on one finger. But you can understand why people could have thought twice before using one of the huge pieces of jewelry. Inconspicuousness is the slogan for the second generation of the device, which at least looks like a real ring.
Like its rival Motiv, the new Oura ring looks more like a rejection of the Diesel catalog than a sophisticated activity tracker. The company has been able to use smaller and more customized components to obtain the new ring shape. Even better, is that the battery now works for seven days, above the two or three available in the original.
Other changes include a new gyroscope that is designed to offer better tracking of the activity, although the company admits that this will not necessarily replace its Fitbit. The goal of all this is to help you be healthier by better understanding your circadian rhythms and your sleep cycle.
Charging the Oura now is much more elegant, since you do not have to do anything with a micro-USB port. Instead, you can place the band on the built-in inductive load plate at the end of each week and wait 80 minutes before replacing it.
Durability, the device is coated with titanium with a scratch-resistant carbon coating, similar to diamond. It is available in three different styles: a single band, one with a slight sculpted point on an “extreme” and a megabucks version with diamond inlays.
The first two editions come in a variety of colors, including rose gold, matt black and silver, while the latter comes with a five-diamond line of 0.005 ct. The previous pair will cost you $ 299, while the diamond version will cost $ 999, obviously. Regardless of the style you choose, however, you will not wait long for them to arrive, as the company says they will ship this April.
