Treadmill Motor Repair

Hi, this is Megan with Eurton Electric And welcome to the world of electric motor repair and rewinding

Today, we will be rebuilding a treadmill motor So, let's go get started! Here, we have a number of different treadmill motors that have come to us for rebuilding As you can see, there is quite a variety of different types of motors out there This one is for a smaller home gym and the rest of these are commercial or larger home models These are DC motors and this one is an AC model

All of them will need to be completely broken down and every part tested, machined, balanced, rewound, or replaced This armature is bad and will need rewinding Look right here, as the bearing surface is worn down and we will need to build the surface area and re-machine it back to its original condition Then, we'll install some new bearings Next, Ramon is going to turn the armature in the lathe, which will return the commutator portion of the armature back to the original new condition within one thousandth of an inch out of round

Next, the armature will need to be undercut This undercutter is a tiny saw that cuts and cleans the commutator's bar slots, removing any possible shorts Brushes, bearings, and capacitors are all vital parts of any motor rebuild Here, at Eurton Electric, we stock and sell these parts for all motors As always, we need to install some new bearings This motor has been completely rebuilt and is now ready for testing

We'll run it up slowly and monitor the motor closely We're looking for the motor's proper amp draw, RPM, and overall performance These motors have been rebuilt, tested, and are now ready to send back to the customer Thanks so much for watching and until next time, I'm Megan with Eurton Electric, signing out
